Seems like there's a lot of questions about this, so how about making a guess?

I guess about 10,000.

They've already cranked-out 110,500 regular Buffs, so its anyone's guess as to how many Proofs they can do. When the mint can crank-out over 100,000 copies in one month of a product it normally makes 10,000 of per month, it makes you think that they have been lying all this time about needing to suspend production in order to meet other demands. Either that, or they have been minting Buffs slowly, all year, and they have built-up a stock of them.

I sure hope that October is the only month they run these off, but I know that is wishful thinking.

A mint official was interviewed in the latest Coin World.
He said they could have minted '09 PR silver and gold eagles but they would have only been able to crank out a "limited" (non-specific) amount. This makes one believe that they prepped for the Buffalo release with plenty of blanks. That's proving to be true for the bullion issue and I'm betting it's true for the PR as well. Except w/ the PR, they can sell these well into 2010... add to that the pentup demand and limited other options, I bet they sell way north of 50K.

You can buy an '06 PR buff for less than the '09 right now at apmex.

Well they sold about 10k today. They should make 50k pretty easy before they are done but hopefully nowhere near the 252,000 2006s. With so few offerings this year and demand for the Buffalos so high who knows how many will sell. In 08 only 19,591 1oz proofs. That may be surpassed in a couple days.

I should have said Proof Buff's. Since they only minted 19k last year, 10k seems reasonable for so late in the year to allow ordering. (at least to me it does)

have the pf buffs from previous years gone up in numie value or just gold value?

Sure, just check out the 2008-W $50 proof buffalo. They currently sell for about $2500 to $2800 in raw condition on Ebay and PF70 slabs from NGC and PCGS can sell for around $3500 to $4000.
